There is virtually no one who has not been impacted by cancer. We all have relatives or close friends who have had cancer, many who have died from cancer. And the incidence of the disease is increasing from 13.4 million people in 2006 to 18.1 million in 2018 ([1]; Fig. 1.1). That number is projected to be close to 24 million new cases by 2035 [2].
