Planning to publish a book, whether as an author or editor, is a journey starting. It is a mission that involves raising, mining, diving, refining, and
moving through. It takes time and needs passion. I am extremely happy to
release the pages of our new book Cancer Vaccination and Challenges.
This book is a set of two volumes. The first volume deals with different strategies for cancer vaccine development, while the second volume presents an understanding of delivery strategies of cancer vaccines for the management of various forms of carcinoma. A lot of work has been done on developing cancer vaccines over the past 50 years, only with minimal success. Meanwhile, current research in genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, and immunology has revived interest in these immunotherapies and enabled the development of potential cancer vaccine candidates. Since the US Food and Drug Administration approved the first therapeutic cancer vaccine, a number of therapeutic cancer vaccines have been evaluated in clinical studies with cancer patients who showed good antitumor immune responses.
The primary focus of this book is the techniques for the development of therapeutic cancer vaccines. We also emphasize on the recently developed targeted cancer vaccine as a cutting-edge therapeutic strategy for cancer patients.
Chapters of this volume (Volume I) make clear our understanding of the need for vaccines in cancer treatment and presents information on the role of tumor antigens, protein/peptides, microbial genes, and stem cells for the development of vaccines for cancer management. Also, this volume provides the latest insights on DNA- and RNA-based cancer vaccines. Finally, we outline the regulatory perspectives for cancer vaccine development.
This book will be a valuable resource for researchers of pharmaceutical background and professionals working in the fields of biomedical science, engineering, vaccine development, and cancer therapy, as well as advanced studies in these fields.
