Working in silos and the solving the challenges of learning across sectors in high-risk industry is a key topic on the safety research agenda and in organizational practise. Modern society is heavily interconnected, new risks are emerging, and we need new ideas and solutions to advance safety. In this chapter, we introduce the research area of the book and some of the current challenges, before we present the aim of the book.
