Although the term ‘cyberpunk’ was lifted from the Bruce Bethke short story “Cyberpunk” (1983) by editor Gardner Dozois and used to refer to a cadre of authors (loosely assembled under the name of the ‘Movement’) writing thematically, if not stylistically, similar stories in the early-1980s, it was famously codifed by Bruce Sterling through his editorship of Mirrorshades: The Cyberpunk Anthology (1986).
