This book describes the process of exploring and analyzing data from various sources for the purpose of extracting information, building models and making decisions and inferences. The artificial intelligence (AI) and data analysis field is a scientific area that has grown enormously, especially during the last few decades following a rapidly growing computer industry and the wide applicability of computational techniques in conjunction with new advances in analytic tools. Modeling enables data analysts to apply various statistical methods to the data they are investigating, identify relationships between variables, make predictions about future sets of data, and understand, interpret and visualize the extracted information more strategically. New research results have been developed and published and many more are currently in progress. The topic is also exhibited widely in many international scientific conferences and workshops. One such conference, Applied Stochastic Modelling and Data Analysis (ASMDA) 2025 and Demographics 2025 Workshop, held 10–13 June 2025 at the University of Piraeus, Greece, is where most of the work in this volume was presented. These facts are the evidence of increasing interest in this area. Therefore, we believe that a collection of chapters from experts in these fields will fulfill the demand from wide circles of the scientific community. This book is a collective work by a number of leading scientists, analysts, engineers, mathematicians and statisticians who have been working on the front end of data analysis and applications of models, whether they arise from data science, operations research, engineering, machine learning or statistics. The chapters included represent a cross-section of current concerns and research interests in the above scientific areas. The material is divided in a form to provide the reader with both theoretical and applied information on data analysis methods, models and techniques along with appropriate applications in AI.
