This book is the outcome of a long-term project supported by the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS, Paris), to which we would like to express our gratitude. In 2020, Jean-Paul Gaudillière and Sébastien Lechevalier submitted a proposal entitled “Capitalisms, technologies, societies and Health. An Euro-Asian research project” (CTSH project: https:// ctsh.hypotheses.org/) to beneficiate from an EHESS funding under the label “Three years international research team” and were selected. We are grateful to Caroline Chu (EHESS International Office) and Jérôme Malois (EHESS Research Office) for their great advice and friendship. Then, despite the difficulties originating in the COVID-19 Pandemic, this funding scheme allowed all the contributing authors to meet at the Social Sciences Campus Condorcet, near Paris, in Aubervilliers, in May 2021, in July 2022, and in July 2024. These meetings facilitated the design of our joint framework as well as the collective writing of the chapters included in this book. During the last two years of the project, monthly webinars allowed for further lively discussions. These efforts were decisive in assuring for the coherence of an enterprise gathering colleagues from different countries and disciplines, which rarely meet. We are very grateful to all the authors for their commitment to the project.
