The Birthkeeper Package is a modular set of documents intended to support clarity in relationships, responsibility, autonomy, judgement and accountability in Birthkeeping. It is not an attempt to define Birthkeeping once and for all, or to turn diverse practice into a single regulated model. Instead, it offers practical documents and shared language that can help make the Birthkeeper-parent relationship clearer, easier to discuss and more accountable. The Package is deliberately loose-leaf. Not every document will be relevant in every relationship or at every moment. Some documents help establish the general working relationship. Some clarify scope, responsibility or practical arrangements. Others become useful only in particular circumstances, while some express commitments or offer guidance for Birthkeepers themselves. The documents can therefore be used individually or in combination, according to what is relevant. They also belong together. Each carries a particular part of a wider pattern of relationship and responsibility around Birthkeeping. Keeping those functions distinct is intentional. No single document is meant to carry the whole meaning of Birthkeeping, and no one form should be expected to become agreement, guidance, ethical statement, practical record and teaching material all at once. The Package is best approached as a set of related tools in service of a living relationship, rather than as a fixed system to be applied to every family in the same way.
