A few years ago, we were very pleased to be invited to write a book on muscle function and growth in children with cerebral palsy, and on the associated implications for assessment and intervention. The objectives of the book were to review the current clinical model of musculoskeletal deformity in children with cerebral palsy, to discuss recent developments in our understanding of muscle and bone physiology, and to discuss alternative clinical models of assessment and intervention.
