Microbes are everywhere imaginable in our environment. For example, just one gram of soil contains billions of microorganisms. Therefore, as an alternative to the limited conventional natural resources being overburdened by the increasing world population, these microbes are seen as future crops for the production of various products of industrial importance. Due to advances in industrial biotechnology, they have become popular as cell factories; and with the recent discoveries in recombinant DNA technology, the application of microorganisms in various sectors has exponentially increased for the development of various processes and products.
