The goal of the SCION project remains unchanged: To take a clean-slate approach to designing a better, more secure, and more performant Internet. What has changed is that, over the past years, SCION has made the transition from a largely academic project focused on this design and building research prototypes, to a robust Internet architecture with rapidly growing international
deployment and adoption. This is the result of the architecture and its open-source foundation maturing. It is also the result of the maturing SCION ecosystem where companies, in particular Anapaya Systems, have built highly scalable industrial-strength routers and edge devices based on the SCION architecture.
