Bird of dawn

مرغ ســحر ناله سر کن

morning/dawn bird,please start mourning

داغ مرا تازه تر کن

further deepen/ renew my pain

زآه شرربار، این قفس را

with a sigh that rains fire,

برشکن و زیروزبر کن

break this cage and overturn it

بلبل پر بسته ز کنج قفس درآ

flightless nightingale, get out of the cage

نغمهٔ آزادی نوع بشــر سرا

sing humanity’s song of freedom,sing for the freedom of human being

وز نفسی عرصهٔ این خاک توده را،

from the breath of the masses, fill the open earth

پُرشرر کن

with fire

ظلم ظالم، جور صیّاد

oppression of the oppressor/cruelness of the oppressor, the hunter’s oppression

آشیانم داده بر باد

it has left my nest dwindling in the wind

ای خدا، ای فلک، ای طبیعت

O god, O universe, O nature,

شامِ تاریکِ ما را سحر کن

make our dark evening into dawn

نوبهار است

it’s a new a spring,

گل به بار است

the flowers have bloomed,

ابر چشمم ژاله‌بار است

the clouds in my eyes, are filled with dew

این قفس چون دلم

this cage, like my heart,

تنگ و تار است

 is suffocated and dark

شعله فکن در قفس ای آه آتشین

oh fiery sigh! start a flame in this cage,

دست طبیعت گل عمرِ مرا مچین

nature’s hand, don’t cut short the flower of my life

جانب عاشق نگه ای تازه گل

give the lover a look, my young flower,

از این، بیشترکن، بیشترکن، بیشترکن

make it more!
