It has been written to be your friend and guide during your time working as a junior in oral and maxillofacial surgery. It should serve you well whether your qualification is in dentistry or medicine. It has been written much like a travel guide, to give you the information you need when you need it. While it is full of factual information, it is not intended to be a concise textbook of oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS)— there are plenty of those available. This handbook will tell you those things that other books won’t! Really useful tips that we learned ‘on the job’ have been gathered and added to these pages, alongside practical hints and guidance. We have also included things you will feel you really should know but are afraid to ask. It has grown since the first edition and with your help it will continue to do so.
